William 'Tom' Thomas Weigle, Sr.

William 'Tom' Thomas Weigle, Sr., 64, of 9979 US Hwy. 322, Conneaut Lake, passed away Monday, September 3rd, 2012 at VA Western NY Healthcare Systems, Buffalo, NY.
Tom was born in Meadville, on September 14, 1947, a son of the late Harold and Hilda (Anthony) Weigle.
On June 11, 1970, while serving his country in Helmstedte, Germany, Tom married the love of his life, Heidi Godecke; she survives.
A self employed businessman, Tom was well known in the area as a skilled mechanic as well as a talented custom golf club maker. His custom made clubs were sold not only in the US, but also internationally via the internet. A life-long resident of Conneaut Lake, Tom graduated from Conneaut Lake High School and from Penn State, Magna Cum Laude, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. On July 31, 1967 Tom entered the US Army and served his country during the Vietnam Conflict where he had attained the rank of Sergeant. During this time he was award an Army of Occupation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with V device, National Defense Service Medal, two Overseas Bars, a Rifle Expert Badge and the Purple Heart for injuries suffered during the war. He was honorably discharged from the Intelligence Dept. on July 21, 1970.
He was a member of the Gamma Tau Phi Honor Society for 42 years and a member of the GCMA (Golf Club Makers Association) where he was honored as Club Maker of the Year in 2004. In addition to his passion for cars, stock car racing and golfing, Tom loved spending time outdoors especially fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed art, oil painting, computers, doing word puzzles, Indian artifacts and playing cards. His greatest love in life was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Heidi of 42 years, Tom is survived by three sons William Thomas Weigle, Jr. and his wife Tiffany of Guys Mills, Matthew Walter Weigle of Conneaut Lake and his girlfriend Tracey Duncan of Meadville, Michael Harold Weigle of Conneaut Lake, three grandchildren, Shawn Weigle, Samuel Weigle, Skylar Roxberry, a sister Teri Reaugh and her husband Richard of Hartstown, a brother John 'Tim' Karl Weigle and his wife Dolly of Guys Mills, several relatives in Germany, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by an infant son, Patrick Daniel Weigle.
A private family viewing will be held at the convenience of the family.
A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at the home of Teri and Richard Reaugh, 7330 Liberty St., Hartstown, at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 8th, 2012.
