Wreatha M. McKinney, 100, of 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, formerly of 1010 Erie St. Ext, PO Box 58, Saegertown, passed away Saturday, February 20th, 2010 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.
Wreatha was born in Wayne Twp., on November 26, 1909, a daughter of the late Fred and Louiesa (Irons) Rush.
On June 4, 1944 Wreatha married Clyde T. McKinney; he preceded her in death on August 18, 1995.
She was a member of Saegertown United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
In 1972 Wreatha retired from the former Euclid Elementary School in Saegertown where she had taught for 17 years. She had previously taught at the former Randolph School, Guys Mills and also in Meadville for a short period. Following her 1928 graduation from the former Randolph High School, Wreatha went on to further her education by graduating from the former Edinboro Normal School in 1930. She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Educational Association-Retired (PSEAR).
Wreatha is survived by a daughter Mary Lou Lake and her husband Charlie of Saegertown with whom she resided for ten years prior to moving to Wesbury in 2004, four grandchildren Jackie Newman and her husband Jason, Joe Davison and his wife Jennifer, Marcia Allio and her husband Chris, Michelle Stutz and her husband Patrick, seven great grandchildren Caleb Newman, Amber Newman, Chandler Davison, Josh Allio, Hailey Allio, Mason Allio, Addison Stutz, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband Clyde of 51 years, Wreatha was preceded in death by two sons David C. McKinney, infant son Donald F. McKinney, two sisters Mildred Mattocks, Audrey Lamb and a brother Orville Rush.
Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday from 3-5 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 330 Broad St., Saegertown, PA 16433 where a Funeral Service will be conducted at 5:00 PM with Rev. Kenneth Custer, Pastor of Saegertown United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will take place in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
